Management: Leadership and Management Level 3 (ILM)

Start Date / Duration

The start dates throughout the year are as follows: 15 September 2023, January 2024, April 2024 and June 2024. The course may run for up to 18 months. Attendance and length of the course will depend on which pathway you enrol to.

Entry requirements

No formal educational qualifications are required, but GCSE maths and English grades A to C are desirable. You should ideally be a practicing team leader seeking to move up to the next level of management or have management responsibilities and want to develop their abilities. All candidates will be interviewed before being accepted onto the programme.

You will achieve

Level 3  in Leadership and Management (ILM) either an Award, Certificate or Diploma.

Course overview

This qualification is ideal if you have management responsibilities but no formal training, and are serious about developing your abilities. It’s particularly suited to practicing team leaders seeking to move up to the next level of management, and managers who need to lead people through organisational change, budget cuts or other pressures.

It can be offered via different attendance patterns (classroom, distance learning or workbased) and we can offer the award, certificate and diploma depending on your specific requirement

 

Course content

The course has a credit value of ninteen and consists of a variety of units, examples are:

  • Understanding how to lead effective meetings
  • Understanding health and safety
  • Understanding recruitment and selection
  • Understanding the communication process in the work place
  • Understanding change in the work place

During this time you will be allocated a tutor who will be your personal guide, mentor and coach. They will be an expert in their field and distance learning. You can be confident that their support and help will give you every opportunity to be successful. You can contact them as often as you need.

Your personal tutor will also assess the work you have to submit for your qualification. They will provide you with full written feedback.

 

Units are assessed via assignments.

You will required to provide paper and writing materials.

You will study in your own environment.

On completion of this programme, you could progress onto the Level 5 in Leadership and Management.

How much does the course cost?

This course costs £1987. This course is eligible for the Free Courses for Jobs funding which means you can study this for free if you meet the eligibility criteria. Please see the drop-down option below for more details. If you are not eligible for funding then you may be able to apply for an Advacned Learner Loan to cover the cost of the course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may not have to pay for this course if:

  • You do not already have a level 3 qualification OR
  • You already have a level 3 qualification or higher (achieved before April 2021) but earn below £21,255 annually
  • You already have a level 3 qualification or higher (achieved before April 2021) but are unemployed and in receipt of a means-tested benefit.

This course is funded by South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and/or West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA). You must be living in the South or West Yorkshire regions to qualify for funding.
