Start Date / Duration

This course can be started anytime between September 2023 and April 2024. This course is studied in your own time but must be completed within 25 weeks of starting.

Entry requirements

You will have at least six months of experience using all aspects of the application on a regular basis.

You will achieve

You will achieve four Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) qualifications, a Microsoft Certification ID and a printed certificate.

Course overview

Demonstrate that you have the skills needed to get the most out of the Microsoft suite of software program by earning Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification.

The Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification program has been designed to validate your knowledge of and ability to use, programs in the Microsoft Office 2013 suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access); Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft SharePoint.

This package is designed to guide you in studying the types of tasks you are likely to be required to demonstrate in Microsoft Office software. As a certification candidate you will have a lot of experience with the program. Many of the procedures described in the workbook will be familiar to you whilst others might not be.

Course content

The course can be studied at your own pace within an academic time frame and your exams can booked when you feel ready to complete the course. This is an online self-directed learning course and access to learning material and basic access support to Microsoft Teams will be provided.

Through this you will complete four Microsoft Office Specialist courses:

  • Microsoft Office Specialist Access (2016) Certification
  • Microsoft Office Specialist Excel Expert (2016) Certification
  • Microsoft Office Specialist PowerPoint (2016) Certification
  • Microsoft Office Specialist Word Expert (2016) Certification

Once you are ready to complete the course, you will need to sit an exam at Barnsley College (or any other Microsoft registered exam centre).

MOS exams for individual programs are practical rather than theoretical. You must demonstrate that you can complete certain tasks or projects rather than simply answering questions about program features.

You will need access to a computer/laptop and the internet.

You will study at home in your own time.

You can study a full-time Digital course at a higher level or apprenticeship or go into employment with your Microsoft Office software-based skills.

How much does the course cost?

This course costs £280 for all learners. There is no funding available for this course.
