Entry requirements

Entry requirements for the course:

  • There are no specific entry requirement qualifications related to the Sales Executive Apprenticeship, however a previous Level 3 qualification or experience in a sales role is desired.
  • Five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including English and maths.

Course overview

A Sales Executive is a sales person who is responsible for selling a specific product or service. You will plan sales activities and lead on the end-to-end sales interaction with the customer. You will be responsible for retaining and growing a number of existing customer accounts and generating new business by contacting prospective customers.



Course content

A Sales Executive understands their organisation’s products or services in detail, and is an expert at analysing customer needs and creating solutions by selecting appropriate products or services, linking their features and benefits to the customer’s requirements. A Sales Executive will develop customer relationships by establishing rapport and building trust and confidence in their own and their organisation’s capabilities. They will do this through demonstration of detailed product knowledge, competitor knowledge and an understanding of the market in which they operate, and by ensuring a positive customer experience.

Throughout the apprenticeship you will develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to be a successful Sales Executive. You will cover a number of topics including:

  • Market, product or service knowledge.
  • Commercial and financial acumen.
  • Customer knowledge and engagement.
  • Sales planning and preparation.
  • Gathering intelligence.
  • Ethics and integrity.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed throughout your apprenticeship. You will create a portfolio of evidence consisting of written reports, professional discussions, observations, presentations, delivering a sales pitch and completing a work-based project to demonstrate your competence. Your assessor and employer will help you prepare for this.

How much does the course cost?

There is no cost to being an apprentice. All costs associated with your apprenticeship, including the cost of training and your salary, will be paid by your employer.
