This course will run in June 2024. It will run on Thursday evenings 6pm - 9pm. This course will take 4 weeks to complete.

Entry requirements

You will need to hold a Level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage (Soft Tissue Therapy) or equivalent.

You will achieve

Barnsley College certificate in Dry Needling.

Course overview

This is an essential course for any healthcare professional looking to provide dry needling for their clients. This course enhances your knowledge and skills in sports therapy to enable you to correctly treat the common patterns of dysfunction with injuries.

Course content

The areas of study are:

  • History of dry needling and current research
  • Theory and benefits of dry needling in relation to injury
  • Application of use within injury treatment
  • Contraindications and health and safety considerations
  • Demonstration and practise of dry needling with links to common injuries
  • Treatment areas with links to injury across various areas of the upper and lower body

Practical demonstration.

You will need to bring pens and stationery as well as training clothes.

Professionally, successful achievement of this course will allow you to enhance the range of treatments you offer within your organisational setting such as a sports club or alternatively in a self-employed environment.

How much does the course cost?

This course costs £250. There is no funding available for this course.
