Sport: Kettlebells Level 2 Part-time

Start Date / Duration

This course will be offered twice throughout the year. It will run on 29 January 2019 for two sessions on a Tuesday evening from 6.00pm-9.00pm and again on Sunday 19 May 2019 for one session 9.00am-5.00pm.

Entry requirements

The course is aimed at qualified Level 2 or Level 3 fitness professionals looking to advance their knowledge and skills, and increase their range of practice with clients.

You will achieve
  • Active IQ Level 2 Award in Instructing Kettlebells
  • 20 CPD points to maintain your REP’s (Register of Exercise Professionals) status

Course overview

This qualification is aimed at all Level 2 or Level 3 qualified instructors and trainers and has been developed to train those, who already have knowledge and skills in fitness instruction, to a professionally competent level to plan and deliver safe and effective kettlebell exercises and training sessions. This qualification is designed to broaden the skills of fitness instructors to include instructing kettlebell sessions. Kettlebells activities are exciting and will enable you to bring further variation and innovation into your sessions.

Course content

Barnsley College are offering this highly popular and valuable course which has a weighting of 20 REP’s CPD points upon successful completion. This course will help you develop specific knowledge and skills needed to safely integrate the use of Kettlebells into your personal training sessions, circuit’s classes, group exercise classes and boot camps. It also enables you to deliver your own Kettlebells classes.

The course will be predominantly delivered through practical workshops. A variety of flexible delivery strategies will be used to accommodate each individual’s learning style. You will learn how to plan and deliver safe and effective Kettlebells exercises and training sessions to a professionally competent level.

 

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is in the form of coursework, a portfolio of evidence, plus a practical demonstration.

 

What equipment will I need?

As a student within the Department of Sport and Public Services you will be expected to wear appropriate sports/fitness clothing at all times. Jeans and non-regulation tops are not allowed. You will also require all necessary writing materials, ring-binders and paper/stationery.
