This is a flexible programme and can start at various times throughout the year. This will take a minimum of 18 months to complete.
Level 4 Sports Coach Apprenticeship Standard. There is no diploma with this apprenticeship, however the Standard aligns with the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).
The Sports Coach Apprenticeship is suitable for anyone who has a passion to positively influence sport and physical activity in their local community.
The broad purpose of the Sports Coach occupation is to use extensive technical and tactical sports knowledge and skills to design and deliver coaching programmes that engage, motivate, and evolve participants’ skills and performance. Sports coaches aim to provide meaningful and high-quality learning, development, and performance experiences.
The course is split in to three pathways which are community coach, school sport coach or high performance coach. The modules you study will depend on your chosen pathway, but there are some core modules which will be covered across all pathways, these are:
The course itself is delivered face-to-face, with the expectancy that you will gather evidence away from College.
Within this course, you will be required to plan, do and review on a current delivery with your employer. It will be your responsibility to lead volunteers, coaches or staff members and promote a culture of development. Due to the nature of the course, and apprentices often working in busy environments, the course has been designed to be flexible, for example assessments can be spoken, rather than written if preferred.

There is no cost to being an apprentice. All costs associated with your apprenticeship, including the cost of training and your salary, will be paid by your employer.
