Course overview

The aim of this award is to provide an understanding of the different types of stroke, signs and symptoms and effects on individuals. It will also help you to gain knowledge of the response needed in the event of an emergency stroke incident, managing stroke and the support available following stroke.

Course content

This qualification aims to upskill the workforce in stroke care to improve services and meet the projected outcomes of the National Stroke Strategy for England.
This qualification aims to develop knowledge of:

  • Different types of stroke
  • Signs and symptoms of stroke and their effects
  • How to respond in an emergency stroke incident

How will I be assessed?

To be awarded the Level 2 Award in Stroke Awareness, you will be required to successfully complete one mandatory unit. The qualification is internally assessed.

What can I do next?

On achieving this qualification, you could progress to the following qualifications:

  • Level 3 Certificate in Stroke Care Management
  • Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care
  • Level 2 Certificate in Working in the Health Sector

These qualifications will prepare you for further training and to support a role in the workplace.
