Supply Chain Management Level 2 Apprenticeship

Start Date / Duration

This apprenticeship programme can be started at any time and will take a minimum of 12 months to complete.

Entry requirements
  • Three GCSEs at grade 3/D, plus GCSE English grade 3 or above
  • Learners will need to be at least 16 years of age
  • You will need to find an employer to employ you as an apprentice. Please see our Apprenticeship vacancies.

Course overview

The supply chain is the movement of goods and services from supplier to customer. It is at the heart of every logistics operation. Supply chain operators play a crucial role in most industries, from clothing and automotive to pharmaceuticals and construction. They move raw materials to the factory for construction or assembly and then on to distribution centres and shops.

Course content

You will study units from the list below relevant to your job role.


  • Health, safety and security at work
  • Develop effective working relationships with colleagues in Logistics operations
  • Make an effective contribution to a business in the logistics sector
  • Obtain information on storage locations and facilities
  • Obtain information on distribution requirements
  • Obtain information on the supply chain
  • Analyse information on the supply chain
  • Monitor the flow of supplies in the supply chain
  • Monitor the distribution of supplies
  • Monitor the flow of returned supplies
  • Monitor the transportation of supplies
  • Place and monitor orders with suppliers
  • Process customs documentation for goods
  • Process transport documentation for goods
  • Process financial documentation for goods
  • Organise the preparation of documentation for the transportation of goods
  • Select suppliers in the supply chain or logistics operation
  • Procure supplies or services in the supply chain or logistics operation
  • Control supplies to storage locations and facilities
  • Administer contracts

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed by your assessor using a portfolio of evidence, practical demonstrations and assignments. You will be assessed in your place of work.

What equipment will I need?

All equipment will be provided. At the start of your Apprenticeship, you will need a folder which will become your portfolio. You will use this portfolio to evidence your skills and experience.

Upon completion you could progress onto the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Supply Chain Management or apply for job roles including:

  • Supply Chain Operative

How much does the course cost?

There is no cost to being an apprentice. All costs associated with your apprenticeship, including the cost of training and your salary, will be paid by your employer.

English and Maths

Having good English and maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.

If you are aged 16 – 19 and don’t already have a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and maths they will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards higher grades in English and maths  we can help you do that too.

Need a higher level maths qualification? We offer a Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths).
