Assessment methods are mainly assignment-based and may include practical projects including presentations, group activities, written reports and role-plays. Some units will also require you to complete an end-of-unit test.
The course starts in September 2023 and lasts for one year.
Two GCSEs at grade 4 or above, preferably including English and/or Maths or four GCSEs at grade 3 including English and/or Maths.
Or completion of the Level 1 Certificate in Travel and Tourism plus GCSE English and Maths at grade 3.
Level 2 Adventure Tourism Certificate.
The Travel and Tourism industry offers a vast range of jobs, taking you to all corners of the globe. If you’d like to follow a career in a dynamic and challenging industry that offers lots of variety and employment opportunities at all levels, this course could be perfect for you.
Adventure Tourism is one of the largest growing tourism industries, with more and more people looking to spend time outdoors on adventures away from and close to home. This course will support you to understand the adventure industry through a range of trips, visits and adventure activities; such as hiking, climbing, abseiling, kayaking, gorge walking and more! Utilising the local area, the Peak District and national parks, you will get the chance to fully immerse yourself into the outdoor adventure experience.

You will need to provide stationery for class-based sessions. For the outdoor activities, appropriate clothing will be required (e.g. waterproof jacket, appropriate footwear for hiking and a rucksack).

This qualification is designed to offer you the opportunity to develop your academic skills, knowledge and understanding that will prepare you, once you have successfully completed the course, to progress onto the two Level 3 programmes run by us.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.
If you are aged 16 – 19 and don’t already have a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths they will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards higher grades in English and Maths we can help you do that too.
Need a higher level Maths qualification? We offer a Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths).
