Warehousing and Storage Team Leader Level 3 Apprenticeship

This programme will take a minimum of 12 months to complete.

Entry requirements
  • Four  GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, plus  GCSE English grade C/4 or above
  • You will need to be at least 16 years of age

Course overview

This course is for you are working, or have a desire to work, in warehousing and storage operations if you have responsibility for supervising the work of others, leading teams and responsibility for other operations.

Course content

You will study units from the list below relevant to your job role. You will also study:

  • Employment, Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) Booklet
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)


  • Contribute to the provision of customers service in logistics operation
  • Provide leadership for your team in logistics operations
  • Supervise the receipt, storage or dispatch of goods
  • Take responsibility for health, safety and security in your team
  • Moving and /or handling goods in logistics operations
  • Use equipment to move goods in logistics operations
  • Process returned good in logistics operations
  • Sort goods and materials for recycling or disposal in logistics operations
  • Check stock levels and stock records
  • Maintain the safety and security of hazardous good and materials in logistics operation
  • Allocate and check work in your team in logistics operations
  • Inducting new colleagues into a logistics operation
  • Manage your own professional development in logistics operation
  • Recruit, select and keep colleagues in logistics operation
  • Build and manage teams in logistics operation
  • Schedule logistics operations to meet customer requirements
  • Arrange the transportation of goods using multiple transport modes
  • Organise the preparation of documentation transportation of goods
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements in logistics resources
  • Respond to problems in logistics operations
  • Improve performance in logistics operations
  • Minimise the environment impact of logistics operations

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed by your assessor using a portfolio of evidence, practical demonstrations and assignments. You will be assessed in your place of work.

What equipment will I need?

All equipment will be provided. At the start of your Apprenticeship, you will be given a portfolio which provides you with information about the company you will be working for. You will use this portfolio to evidence your skills and experience.

Where will I study?

You will study within the workplace.

What can I do next?

Upon completion you could progress onto the Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Logistics Operation or apply for job roles including:

  • Warehouse Operative

How much does the course cost?

There is no cost to being an apprentice. All costs associated with your apprenticeship, including the cost of training and your salary, will be paid by your employer.

English and Maths

Having good English and maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.

If you are aged 16 – 19 and don’t already have a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and maths they will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards higher grades in English and maths or a higher level maths qualification we can help you do that too.
