Barnsley College is holding an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Open Day for anyone wanting to improve their English speaking skills. The event will be held on Saturday 29 June at the Church Street campus between 11.00am and 2.00pm.
The ESOL course is suitable for anyone whose first language is not English and aims to help them to integrate into an English-speaking environment. Students will improve their English speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. The course will help them to become a more fluent English speaker helping them to operate more confidently in everyday life.
Visitors to the Open Day will have the opportunity to speak to ESOL tutors and current students to find out first-hand how the course has helped them, enrol on the day and find out what financial support is available to them.
Andra Ghencea, Head of Department for English, maths and ESOL, said: “The Open Day is a great way for visitors to speak directly with our staff and current students and find out how the course can help them to develop confidence and become competent in speaking English. Students who complete an ESOL course will get a nationally recognised qualification helping them in their next step, whether that is employment progression, continuing with further study or making everyday life a bit easier.”
