About the event
A FREE virtual masterclass hosted online by Talent United
Join us online on Thursday 19 November, 9.30am – 11.30am.
It is simply not enough to rely on your bank to stop you falling victim to fraud.
Annually, consumers and businesses are losing almost as much as financial organisations to financial criminals. The main driver of this is the lack of awareness amongst the general population of exactly what fraud looks like and how to spot it.
Presented by Michael Lea-Smith from Virgin Money, this masterclass will provide:
- A view of the UK’s fraud landscape
- Real life case studies
- The theory of threat avoidance
- Practical hints and tips to help you protect your personal and professional finances.

About Talent United
Talent United is Barnsley College’s employer engagement initiative, which aims to bridge the gap between education and employment. By building lasting relationships with businesses, we can provide students with meaningful employer engagements and create a culture of employment across the college. Together, we can enrich the future labour market by creating a generation of ‘work ready’ learners that are aware of the careers available to them and have the employability skills to progress into employment or further study.
