The College is offering free English and maths courses over the summer for anyone wanting to increase their reading, writing and numeracy skills.
The free Functional Skills courses are offered from Entry Level to Level 2 where you will develop essential skills and knowledge in a range of topics including spelling, form filling, note writing, interpreting numbers and dealing with money.
This knowledge will help you to operate confidently in everyday life and gain confidence in your reading, writing, speaking and numeracy skills.
Two study options are available which include a week-long intensive programme or you can attend College over a set number of days and weeks throughout the summer. Both choices are flexible and can be customised providing you with the option to fit in studying around your work pattern or family commitments.
If you complete your Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths then you can progress on to GCSE English and maths at the College.
Andra Ghencea, Interim Head of Department for English and maths, said: “These courses will provide students with the opportunity to gain their English and maths qualifications over the summer and be GCSE ready by September. This will prepare them for their next step whether that be career progression or further study.”
