HE LRC Intro: Athens

Sometimes you need to show the breadth of your research by using other sources as well as books.  The HE Library has two main online databases that allow you to access a variety of digital journals and articles.  These are Open Athens and Discovery and can be accessed on or off campus 24/7.  You can find a link to Athens on MyDay and on the HE Library homepage.

Athens is the home of our online databases and also where you will find ebooks and Audio books.

Discovery

Not every database on Athens will be relevant to your course, so if you are not sure where to start use Discovery.

Discovery is a great resource to use at the beginning of an assignment as it searches EVERYTHING the LRC has to offer.  In one search, Discovery will look for results in the Heritage Catalogue and most of the databases in Athens (marked with a ‘D’ on the Athens resource list), meaning you can find articles and journals as well as books.

It is accessed through Athens or via links on the HE Library Website.

Please note: Please ignore the error message on the login page and click on Institutional Login to continue. The Library are aware of this problem and are currently working on a solution.

Here are two information leaflets to get you started with Discovery:
