Clinical Healthcare Support apprentices with college staff

The first group of healthcare apprentices to become employed in General Practice (GP) through an innovative partnership have been commended.

The college joined forces with Caritas Group Practice in Halifax and College Lane Surgery in Ackworth, West Yorkshire to deliver the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Clinical Healthcare Support to 32 apprentices.

All the partners have worked closely to maximise their individual expertise, share best practice and simplify processes to make the apprenticeship more easily accessible to those who want to work in healthcare.

The apprenticeship has created the foundation for a new type of health employee in local areas.

Lee Pryor, Head of Health Sciences and Social Care Professions, Computing and Science at the college said: “All the partners have worked extremely well together and we are proud to say that all the apprentices successfully completed their apprenticeships with General Practices within the Wakefield, Calderdale and Huddersfield area because of this collaboration.”
