Barnsley College Lone Parents hosted a coffee morning and raised £90 for the Tiny Heart appeal and Barnsley Hospice.

The coffee morning was organised by six students who are completing the Lone Parents Work Preparation course at the College on Wednesday 7 December.

The eight week employability skills course is specially tailored to fit around childcare and offers students an opportunity to do essential work experience.

Isobelle Hoedemaker, one of the organisers of the coffee morning said: “I’m proud to be part of the team that organised this event and raise money for local charities. The Lone Parent’s course is really enjoyable and has improved my organisation and communication skills.”

Malcolm Roe, Employability Skills Tutor at Barnsley College said: “The students put a lot of hard work into organising this coffee morning and we’re delighted that it was a success. It’s been fantastic to see these students grow and develop their confidence over a short period of time.”
