New 4G AstroTurf pitch at Honeywell Sports campus

Our new 4G AstroTurf multi-sport pitch at Honeywell Sports campus has officially opened.

Fourth Generation (4G) surfaces consist of one element: synthetic turf. These surfaces are designed to eliminate the requirement for any infill products, whilst still meeting all the performance and testing requirements required by the sporting governing bodies.

The new all-weather pitch is proving popular with College students and the wider community; filling a gap in the region for a facility which can be used all year round.

“The 4G pitch will provide so many with the opportunity to play sports, whether it be for fun or competitively.”

Luke Forgione, Performance and Athlete Development Co-ordinator at Barnsley College, said: “We are really pleased that the College has supported our vision to create a fantastic facility that will service our academic provision and the local community.

“Based in the centre of the town, the 4G pitch will provide so many with the opportunity to play sports, whether it be for fun or competitively. This is a further example of the College’s commitment to be a leading provider in education alongside us recognising our importance to Barnsley and the wider community.”
