Barnsley College has been chosen to run a new course for the Trades Union Congress (TUC) in the Yorkshire region.
TUC Education is the training organisation for workplace representatives and union officers, which has an unrivalled reach into Britain’s workplaces to provide education and training. The new course offers Awards, Certificates and Diploma qualifications in areas such as employment law, risk assessments, health and safety, and migration.
Head of Department for Business and Management Services, Julie Beaumont said: “It is a fantastic opportunity to open a new centre here in Yorkshire, so that local reps have the opportunity to get up-to-date information. We are pleased to be working with TUC on this project which expands our provision of courses in business and management even further.”
Yorkshire and Humber TUC Regional Secretary, Bill Adams added: “The trusted reputation and relationship between Barnsley College and TUC could prove to be a real benefit to the college as the representatives for the companies may find other opportunities to expand their vocational skills.”
The first group to take advantage of this course included six students representing a mix of unions from all over the Yorkshire area.
Stephen Stead from Stelrad Mexborough said: “It is great to be able to attend this course and take the information back to my workplace, giving me the confidence to discuss and challenge management about any issues.”
It is not too late to enrol for a Business and Management Services course at Barnsley College, call 01226 216 123 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
