We are celebrating being crowned the Outstanding BTEC Apprenticeship Provider of the Year 2017 at the national BTEC Awards, an annual ceremony which rewards students, teachers, schools and colleges for their achievements.
Representatives from the College were welcomed to the House of Commons, Palace of Westminster, where they met with other award winners before attending the prestigious award ceremony held at the Royal Horticultural Halls in Westminster.
Christopher Webb, Principal and Chief Executive at the college, said: “It’s a great honour for us to receive this award. It recognises the College’s ongoing commitment to the promotion and delivery of apprenticeships and demonstrates the hard work and dedication of our staff and partners.”
Callum Savage, 18, from Worksop, an apprentice studying a Level 3 Diploma in Design and Draughting and a BTEC in Construction and the Built Environment, accepted the award on behalf of the College. He said: “I truly enjoyed being a part of the BTEC Awards and visiting Westminster. It was a once in a lifetime experience and being able to meet such a diverse range of people from so many different backgrounds was great.
“Being part of Barnsley College is wonderful because of all the support I receive. The College is inspirational for so many people, it drives aspirations and it thoroughly deserves the award.”
The College was shortlisted in May 2017 for its innovative approach to promoting and delivering BTEC apprenticeships to employers and potential students. The College provides over 80 apprenticeship pathways as well as other business training packages to more than 1,500 businesses across the region.
