Seven of our Catering and Hospitality students have had the fantastic opportunity to spend a week at the Goodwood Festival of Speed where they have been getting valuable catering experience by cooking some delicious food for the festival. We asked them to keep us up to date with what they are doing.

So, today it’s been all about pizza! We have been preparing pizza toppings (this has been my favourite part today), setting up and cleaning down the kitchen and putting pizza boxes together. It’s been a long day and we’ve worked well as a team.
The most challenging part of the day has been being on my feet for so long but it’s been great to get experience of working in a busy kitchen. We’ve also had the chance to have a look around the festival and we’ve seen some great cars!
The students are doing an amazing job. Early mornings, late finishes and cooking a range of different types of food is providing a real taste for the fast-paced environment that working at a busy festival brings. They have shown real grit and determination having rolled up their sleeves and getting stuck in!
They have been working in various kitchens at the festival. Amber and Chloe worked on pizzas in the Lamborghini restaurant and other students have worked in the driver’s club area. We’ve also made some amazing dishes catering for 500 guests at the Duke and Duchess of Goodwood’s exclusive garden party. Here is the starter that we made. Nutbourne tomatoes, charred shallot petals and beetroot.
It’s been an AMAZING experience for the students so far!
