When did you start working at Barnsley College?
I joined Barnsley College in August 2019.
Why do you think it’s important for employers to develop their workforce?
Training prevents skills gaps developing within the workforce and hindering the business. It’s also a fundamental way for a business to stay ahead of competitors and is really critical to company growth.
Which client accounts and sectors do you manage?
My focus is on small and medium-sized organisations who are looking to recruit just one or two apprentices, or upskill their existing employees. Sectors are varied and roles are across the board with a lot of Business and Management apprenticeships which are relevant to any business.
Can you give me an example of a positive impact that you have had on a client business whilst in your current role?
We work with a local technology business which recently recruited a Digital Marketing apprentice with us. The apprentice and the client came to us having had a confusing time trying to enrol with a different training provider. We made the process really simple for them and they are both now very happy as the apprenticeship is progressing well.
What do you enjoy most about coming to work?
I love the networking aspect, meeting people and all the personal interactions with clients, students and colleagues. The job is so varied and there are lots of new things to learn with apprenticeships. Every day is different and that keeps us on our toes!
Give us an interesting fact about yourself
I am a regular at my local gym and I’m currently training to compete in Strong Woman competitions. This is a significant milestone for me as it represents the culmination of my recovery from a serious leg injury sustained in 2017.
