Borrowing Regulations

You must have your student card to borrow resources.  Students and staff may borrow up to 20 items each.  There are three colours of shelf labels on the books. The colours tell you how long each item will be issued to you for:

White label 3 week. Red Label 1 week. Yellow label Reference ONLY

You may renew your items for up to 9 weeks via Heritage catalogue.

Please note: Overdue items are charged at 20p per item per week (maximum of £1).  If you incur fines of £5 or more your borrowing rights will be suspended!

Library Layout

Books in all Barnsley College libraries are shelved using the Dewey Decimal system and can be found using Heritage.  When you visit us in the HE Library, look at the noticeboards and pick up our leaflets.  These are full of useful information about using the Library for your studies.

Silent Study Room

The Library is a place for studying.  If you need to work in groups, please use the study tables in the main part of the library and keep conversation levels quiet.

If you want to work in silence, there is a silent study room located at the back of the library.  Keep your phones on silent and do not talk to others; as the name suggests, it is for SILENT STUDY!
