Barnsley College is offering people aged 19 or over without formal qualifications the opportunity to start a career in childcare or health and social care.

The College is offering a Level 2 Pre-Access to Higher Education (HE) in Health Professions which is available either as a diploma offered on a full-time basis over three days a week, or a certificate offered part-time over two evenings a week. Both qualifications are run over one year.

Both qualifications cover modules such as personal development, career development, science and nutrition. On completion, students can progress into further training such as the Level 3 Access to HE in Early Years or Health Science Professions, or into employment in health and social care.

Programme Manager Lee Pryor said: “These qualifications are perfect for people who want to work with children or in healthcare, preparing students for further study in the area of their choice or for positions such as healthcare assistant or auxiliary nurse.

“We still have places available for people wishing to start either the diploma or the certificate in September so people can enrol now and quickly start moving towards their desired career.”

The course fees are £700 for the certificate and £1,900 for the diploma. For further information or to enrol, please contact the Information Team on 01226 216 123 or email info@barnsley.ac.uk
