Four of our students have enjoyed a special viewing of The Nutcracker ballet in London after winning a College competition.

Michael Harding, Megann Oakley, Kira Parry, and Lauren Nortcliffe viewed the show from the wings of the Royal Opera House, where they watched the ballet dancers prepare for their entrances and exits.

The students earned their place at the show after writing an article explaining why they wanted to watch The Nutcracker or writing a poem with one of the following titles: The Sugar Plum Fairy; The Christmas Tin Soldiers or The Boy Who Danced. Their submissions were picked as the winning entries.

Philip Mosely, Artistic Scheduling Manager and Character Artist at the Royal Opera House, organised the behind-the-scenes experience for the students. Barnsley-born Philip trained as a ballet dancer and was the original Billy Elliot during a very successful dance career.
