Students perform Little Mermaid

Our Level 3 Performing Arts students performed Little Mermaid Junior, The Musical by Peter Lawton and Emma Ledger. Students took to the stage to showcase their performance in the Old Mill Lane campus.

The production explored the magical kingdom of Atlantica as mermaid Ariel defied her father, made a deal with the evil sea witch and attempted to convince the Prince that she was the girl with the enchanting voice, all to trade her ocean home for a life above water.

Peter Lawton, Performing Arts tutor at Barnsley College, said: “Myself and Emma were so impressed with the students’ work ethic and shear determination to make this work in the circumstances.

“They were simply amazing, and we are very proud of their efforts. Although not as we originally intended, these very talented students made sure the show did go on!”

Our Performing Arts courses allow students to learn how the creative industry works and develop links with employers as well as develop key specialist skills such as those in sound and lighting whilst mirroring the industry with the latest equipment.

Our courses also encourage students to develop key transferable skills such as communication skills, self-confidence and problem solving.
