Top firm counts on Barnsley student

Barnsley Sixth Form College A Level student Matthew Lewis is celebrating after securing an Apprenticeship with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), one of the world’s largest professional services networks.

Matthew, 17, will start work with PwC in September after completing his A Levels in Business, ICT and Law. He will work in the Assurance (Pensions Audit) department alongside studying for a Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship in Accounting.

Matthew, of Waddington Road, Pogmoor, said: “I had to go through two test stages and an interview before finding out I’d been successful and I’m really pleased to have secured an Apprenticeship with such a well-known firm. My A Levels have prepared me for the next step on my career journey and I know the things I’ve learned will help me during my Apprenticeship.”

Business Teacher Owen Meredith added: “This is a terrific achievement for Matthew and I know that everyone at college is delighted for him. It is pleasing to see a student taking up a post A Level Apprenticeship with such a renowned firm and it really highlights the diverse range of opportunities available for students if they decide to complete their A Levels with Barnsley Sixth Form College.”
