Travel and Tourism students raise money for charity

Our Travel and Tourism students raised £134 for their chosen charities of Bluebell Wood Hospice and Breast Cancer UK through a range of activities.

Students and staff from the College’s Travel and Tourism department raised the money by holding a flash mob in the Barnsley Town Centre and a sweet stall at the Honeywell Sports Campus.

Students contacted Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, created a risk assessment and applied for planning permission, contacted internal departments, formulated a dance routine, purchased sweets, sourced sweet bags and designed posters to advertise the events.

Helen Chapman, a Travel and Tourism tutor, said: “This was a well planned, organised and successful event that showcased and developed students’ leadership, promotion and marketing skills. They raised £134 for a great cause and amazing charities that will hopefully make a difference.”
