On Friday 7 November students from University Campus Barnsley (UCB) and Barnsley College will process from the Old Mill Lane campus to The Civic as part of the annual Graduation ceremony.

The ceremony is to honour those students who have completed Higher Education courses at UCB and Barnsley College over the last year and will be attended by graduands, their guests and VIPs including senior college staff, His Worshipful the Mayor of Barnsley, the High Sheriff and the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire. The procession will begin at 11.50am and will be led by a local brass band.

Local author Milly Johnson will be the keynote speaker, Milly is a Sunday Times top ten bestseller and international author of women’s fiction. She is also a columnist, copywriter, joke writer, poet and popular after dinner speaker.

To allow the procession to pass safely through the town there will be some temporary road closures. The following roads will be closed for approximately 15 minutes at 11.45am: Church Street, St Mary’s Gate, Sadler Gate, Eastgate and Royal Street.

Members of the public and local businesses are invited to support the students and their achievements during the procession.
