Update from the Principal – 7 August 2020

I would like to update you on a number of things that will be happening over the summer period in preparation for the start of the new academic year.   All College sites are being made Covid safe in line with government guidelines ready to welcome back our students and staff.

As you will appreciate things will look and feel very different – staggered start and end times, one-way systems around the buildings, social distancing measures, on-line services to name a few.  However, what won’t change is our commitment to the College vision of “Transforming Lives” and our ultimate purpose to ensure that all students have a great time, achieve their aims and progress onto work or higher education.

The way we adapted to online delivery during the full lockdown, has given us a really good head start. In line with government guidelines for class sizes and social distancing measures, ‘blended learning’ will be the way to go, with a mixture of online delivery and practical, on-site taught sessions.  Your tutors will inform you of the specific arrangements for your course.

If you are joining us for the first time I’m sure you will have many questions, there is a bespoke section on the website that will hopefully answer some of these  https://www.barnsley.ac.uk/courses/enrolment-2020/

Whilst the College buildings are not open for you to drop in you can still contact us on info@barnsley.ac.uk or call 01226 216123 our advisers are available during the summer to help and support with your next steps.

I look forward to welcoming you at the start of the academic year.
