We have signed a covenant which pledges to support armed forces veterans.

On Monday 23 March, representatives from Barnsley Council, Berneslai Homes, Barnsley Clinical Commissioning Group, armed forces charities and the College re-signed the Armed Forces Covenant, which was last signed in 2011.

The covenant demonstrates that communities across the borough recognise and remember the sacrifices faced by the armed forces community. The agreement sets out the working partnership to ensure that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, are not disadvantaged in accessing services across all sectors.

Yiannis Koursis, Principal and Chief Executive of Barnsley College, said: “We’re proud to sign this covenant and demonstrate our support to the veterans and to the town.

“The College is here to support everyone, including veterans, to gain new skills and qualifications towards achieving their ambitions.”
