Pupils get a taste of Public Services.

We welcomed Year 10 pupils from Outwood Academy Shafton for a chance to explore options for their career and future study.

Students took part in tours around the college campuses and departments including Childcare, Construction, Engineering, Performing Arts, Media, Public Services and Sport. The tours aimed to get students thinking about their future and raise the aspirations about what they could achieve after school.

One Year 10 Outwood Academy Shafton pupil said: “My favourite part of the visit was learning about all the different courses and opportunities that you can take at Barnsley College.”

Mel Jenkinson, Head of Student Recruitment at Barnsley College, added: “The taster sessions provide the students with rich knowledge and information about college life and career prospects. The college recognises that for some students choosing a career pathway at the ages of 14 and 15 can be unnerving, so it’s important to provide them with information in a relaxed environment.”
