We’re expanding T Levels from September…

We will be continuing to offer our Technical qualification (T Level) study programmes from September, with the addition of a brand new course.

From September, we will be offering a new T Level in Health and Social Care, joining existing T Levels in Digital, Education and Childcare, and Construction.

Do you remember… we were the first and only  College in South Yorkshire to offer T Levels from their launch last year!

T Levels were introduced in 2020 but with a year of teaching experience and a brand-new subject on offer, we’re ready to welcome the next cohort of students who are hoping to approach further education through a more technical pathway rather than following a purely academic pathway, or a work-based apprenticeship.

Studied as a mixture of classroom or workshop-based learning and ‘on-the-job’ experience, students who complete a T Level will gain qualifications equivalent to three A Levels. They will also have the opportunity to continue into employment or Higher Education including higher or degree-level apprenticeships and higher-level technical study.

By studying a T Level, students will gain a combination of technical knowledge and practical skills relevant to their chosen industry or occupation and, upon completion, a nationally recognised certificate which employers will use as evidence in their recruitment.

Jorja Clive, current Education and Childcare T Level student, said: “I have chosen to study at College because it offers an excellent Childcare T Level course. I enjoy learning new things and pushing myself to the best I can be; the tutors are so nice and supportive.”

Neil Johnson, Assistant Principal for Class Based Learning, added: “One of the key benefits of studying a T Level is that they have been designed and developed in collaboration with leading businesses and employers so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares students for work, further training or study associated with the roles and expertise required for both current and future careers.

“In addition, the minimum requirement of a 45-day industry placement ensures that students are able to apply the theoretical content and develop the practical and technical skills required in the occupation aligned to their career ambition.”

There are still places left on T Level courses starting in September 2021 at Barnsley College. To apply, visit our enrolment webpage.
