Agriculture Level 2 Full-time

Do you love farming and want to help farm animals?

With our Level 2 Agriculture course, you will earn practical skills and knowledge about working with cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, and poultry.

The course is held at our Wigfield Farm campus, led by experienced agricultural teachers.

This one-year course combines theory and practical sessions, covering:

  • Introduction to Farm Animal Production

  • Assist with Agricultural Habitat Management

  • Participate in Providing Estate Maintenance

How much does the course cost?

Full-time Barnsley College students aged 16-18 years old do not have to pay tuition fees.

Course Content

Four GCSEs at grade 2/3 or above including English and Maths.

You will be assessed through coursework and practical observations at the farm.

You will need waterproof coat and trousers, overalls, and steel toe capped boots or wellies. You will also need to bring either a notepad and pen or a laptop. All other PPE you may need will be provided. Long hair will also need to be tied back.

Certificate

Upon completion, you could progress onto the Level 3 Agriculture course, or work-based learning courses or secure employment as a farm worker or manager, agronomist or feed nutritionist.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.

If you are aged 16 - 19 and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which maybe added to your study programme, subject to approval from your chosen department.

If you're aged 19 or above and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths we can help. We offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.
