Biology (GCSE Science) Part-time

GCSE Biology provides a solid understanding of Human Biology, Organisms, Evolution, and the Environment.

Students explore topics like Cell Biology, Ecology, and Bioenergetics, focusing on ‘Working Scientifically’ through practicals like Food Tests and Photosynthesis, which make up 15% of the final grade.

This course highlights science’s real-world applications and includes Independent Learning Tasks to support learning.

Open to all ages, it combines expert teaching with hands-on lab experiences.

How much does the course cost?

This course costs £400. This course may be FREE to study depending on your circumstances – please see the drop-down option below for more details. The fee includes a text book. An introductory 6 week course must be completed at an additional cost of £100, full fee payable. Related additional costs may include materials, equipment, etc. which are payable by all students.

Course Content

  • GCSE English and GCSE Maths at grade D/3 or above (equivalent qualifications or experience accepted such as functional skills level 2)

  • Successfully complete an interview with the course tutor

Mock exams and revision sessions will be conducted through the year with two end of year exams taking place in May/June.  

You will need writing materials, pens, pencils and note book. You should also have basic maths equipment, including a calculator and ruler.

GCSE

Upon successful completion of your GCSE science course, you may be able to study on an Access to HE Health Science Professions Level 3 course or an Access to HE Childcare (Teaching) depending upon your age and achievement.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.

If you are aged 16 - 19 and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which can be added to your study programme.

If you're aged 19 or above and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths we can help. We offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.
