Care Worker (Adults) Level 2 Apprenticeship

Adult Care Workers improve the lives of individuals facing physical, practical, social, emotional, or intellectual challenges. They work in various settings such as residential homes, day centres, or individuals’ homes, providing support to help people live independently and with dignity. This rewarding role offers excellent career prospects for those passionate about making a positive difference.

You will learn to:

  • Understand the Care Role: Perform key tasks such as assisting with personal care, mobility, eating, and social activities, tailored to individual needs.

  • Support Personal Goals and Choices: Help individuals achieve their goals and make informed decisions about their care and support.

  • Maintain Dignity and Communication: Work with respect and dignity, ensuring effective communication with individuals and others.

  • Ensure Safety and Safeguarding: Keep individuals safe from harm, understanding safeguarding protocols and when to ask for help.

  • Promote Professionalism: Uphold high standards of professionalism and contribute to your own development while supporting care plans.

  • Support Diverse Needs: Assist individuals with cognitive, physical, or sensory impairments, adapting care to their unique needs.

Note: You must complete the 15 standards as set out in the Care Certificate which forms part of your mandatory induction delivered in the workplace by your employer. The Care Certificate is a requirement for all apprentices and builds on the previous Common Induction Standards (CIS) and National Minimum Training Standards.

Course Content

  • You will need to provide evidence of both a recent Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and a mandatory workplace induction.

  • You will need to find an employer willing to employ you as an apprentice. Please see our Apprenticeship vacancies for the latest opportunities. Please be aware, individual employers will set their own entry requirements and selection criteria for their apprenticeship job role.

Your assessor will carry out planned observation visits in the workplace. You will also complete an End-point Assessment (EPA) to measure your skills, knowledge and behaviours as set out in the apprenticeship standard.

You will need access to a computer and the internet.

Apprenticeship Standard

On successful completion of this apprenticeship you will be a competent and job-ready Health and Social Care Support Worker. Progression to Level 3 qualifications related to your job role is an option after a period of working and gaining experience and you may be able to work towards a Senior Health and Social Care Support Worker role.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.

If you are aged 16 - 19 and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which can be added to your study programme.

If you're aged 19 or above and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths we can help. We offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.
