Course overview

The Games Design Extended Diploma Level 3 is an exciting and interesting technical course, ideal if you aspire to work in the games industry in the future. Games Development is a very fast-moving industry in which to work and you will therefore need to be up to date with the latest technology to give you the edge in this competitive environment.

Course content

This study programme is for you if you like to play computer games and would like to learn how to design and develop them yourself. You will develop both 2D and 3D design skills developing games from concept, research and practical creation to testing.

You will enhance your design skills using packages like Adobe Illustrator, Maya, and Photoshop to design 2D and 3D concept art.

Using industry standard software like Unity and Unreal Engine you’ll develop programing skills in C++ and C# to create 2D and 3D games.

You’ll develop programming and design skills when designing gaming levels, characters, buildings and assets.

You will be assessed on a mixture of practical work and coursework.

After successful completion of this course you could progress onto a Higher Education programme in the Creative Industries.

 

How much does the course cost?

16 – 18 year olds

Full-time Barnsley College students aged 16-18 years old do not have to pay tuition fees.
