Landscape/Horticulture Supervisor Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship is designed for individuals pursuing a supervisory role in horticulture and landscape sectors, whether in public parks, private estates, or nurseries. You will gain valuable skills in supervising projects, business operations, plant identification, and environmental protection while specialising in either horticulture or landscape construction.

Course Highlights:

Course Content

You will need to hold:

  • Qualifications related to the course, such as the Level 2 Horticulture / Landscape Operative Apprenticeship

  • GCSE 9/A* – 4/C or equivalent requirements including English and Maths

  • Other requirements e.g. Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) maybe needed by your employer. Check the employer's requirements before applying for the role.

  • You will need to find an employer willing to employ you as an apprentice. Please see our Apprenticeship vacancies for the latest opportunities. Please be aware, individual employers will set their own entry requirements and selection criteria for their apprenticeship job role.

Apprentices without Level 2 English and Maths must achieve this prior to taking the End-point Assessment (EPA).

You should produce a portfolio of evidence on-programme, which contains employer appraisals, your apprentice journal plus the mandatory qualifications.

The EPA will have the following:

  • A synoptic practical assessment containing a range of practical activities

  • Professional discussion

  • Online knowledge assessment meeting the knowledge requirements of the standard

  • Supervisory Studies Project

You will require a pen, note paper, safety boots, gloves, pencil and a ruler.

Apprenticeship Standard

Upon completion, you could progression onto job roles including: Horticulture Team Leader, Landscape Supervisor or Assistant Head Gardener.

Alternatively, you could continue onto further study including the Higher National Diploma (NHD) in Horticulture or Landscaping or an undergraduate degree in Horticulture.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.

If you are aged 16 - 19 and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which maybe added to your study programme, subject to approval from your chosen department.

If you're aged 19 or above and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths we can help. We offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.
