LaunchPad: Re-engage with education

Time to reset, refocus, and relaunch your future.

If school did not work out—or if you are just feeling stuck—LaunchPadis your second chance to get back into learning your way. This is not your typical classroom. It is a supportive, low-pressure space designed to help you rebuild confidence, learn real-life skills, and figure out what’s next.

What is it all about?

-Find Your Spark Again
This course is all about helping you rediscover your motivation, build up your confidence, and get ready for the next steps—whether that is college, training, or something else that excites you.

-Tailored Just for You
You will get personalised support with sessions that fit yourneeds, interests, and goals. We will help you tackle challenges, set goals, and make a plan for your future.

-Skills for Life (Not Just School)
You will work on the kind of skills that actually matter—like communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and resilience. These are key for further education andlife outside the classroom.

-A Safe Space to Grow
LaunchPad takes place in a small, friendly building away from the main college. It is relaxed, low-stress, and built to make you feel comfortable while you find your feet again.

-Who is it for?
If you are 16 to 18and currently not in education, employment, or training.

LaunchPad is here for you. Whether you are ready to dive back into learning or just need some time and support to figure things out—we have got your back.

Course Fees and Funding

How much does the course cost?

Full-time Barnsley College students aged 16-18 years old do not have to pay tuition fees.

Other funding information

You may be eligible for assistance with expenses such as travel, books, equipment and childcare. For further information please contact Student Services by calling 01226 216 267.

Course Content

You must be aged 16-18 years old or 16-24 years if you hold an EHCP.

You will be assessed by informal assessments throughout the programme.

All equipment will be provided.

Upon completion, you could progress onto further study within the College.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.

If you are aged 16 - 19 and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which maybe added to your study programme, subject to approval from your chosen department.

If you're aged 19 or above and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths we can help. We offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.

Barnsley College has a range of sports opportunities for all students to take part in, gain professional training and compete nationally and internationally. We also have a state-of-the-art fitness village, the Sports Village, where students can make use of our fitness suite, spinning studio and classes for competitive rates.

Barnsley Sports Academy offers state-of-the-art facilities and diverse sports programs, enabling students to achieve academic and athletic excellence. Remember, you don't have to be studying Sport to join Barnsley Sports Academy.
