Supported Internship Level 1 Full-Time
You will:
Learn how to work as a team and on your own
How to prepare and take part in an interview, create a great CV, learn how to effectively look for a job that suits you, your interests and abilities
Develop your independent travel skills
Agree, set and achieve personal targets that prepare you for your future goals
Attend a work placement to put into practice your in-class learning experience
Develop or enhance your social and communication skills, how to work safely, how to work with others and much more!
Have support from a Job Coach to help you learn new skills, tasks and to settle in at work
Experience engaging talks from guest speakers to motivate and inspire you on your next step to employment
Visit a range of employers to gain further knowledge of what it's like to work in different sectors of the working world!

How much does the course cost?
Full-time Barnsley College students aged 16-18 years old do not have to pay tuition fees.

Course Content
You must be aged between 16-24 years old and:
Have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
Have 'High Needs' funding for your support agreed by your local authority
Attend an 'interview' with a staff member
Attend taster/transition sessions in the department to help you settle in before you start
Have a desire to get a job following the programme
Be able/willing to travel independently

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.
If you are aged 16 - 19 and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which can be added to your study programme.
If you're aged 19 or above and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths we can help. We offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.
