About The Open Kitchen

The Open Kitchen restaurant gives our catering students the opportunity to gain real work experience for their future careers and jobs in the hospitality industry.

Our students value the experience of preparing and serving food for paying customers. They are supported in their training by a professional team.

By visiting our restaurant you provide our learners with invaluable experience. In return you will receive high quality food and service, for a fraction of the usual cost.

The atmosphere in the Open Kitchen is friendly and relaxed, and our customers are given the special attention that makes eating there a memorable occasion. Menus are innovative and regularly changed in keeping with local and seasonal produce.  We are also fully licensed. Our themed evenings and private functions provide our students with the best training experience and you with a memorable dining experience.

Where we are

The Open Kitchen is part of Barnsley College’s Old Mill Lane Campus building, at the corner of Church Street and Old Mill Lane. It is a short walk from Barnsley town centre and easily accessible by public transport. Parking is available in the nearby public car park on County Way, S70 2JW.
