Good health and wellbeing is essential for our students to achieve their goals.
We have a dedicated team of people who make sure that you are supported to lead healthy and happy lives. We work with Spectrum to deliver sexual health services and also with South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust to deliver our additional range of services across College.
The Health and Wellbeing Centre is based at the Old Mill Lane campus and is open Monday to Friday. The centre is staffed by a Health and Wellbeing team who are here to provide you with advice on:
- Mental Health Access Team (IAPT)
- Barnsley Stop Smoking service
- Diet and nutrition advice
- Contraception and Sexual Health services
- Drugs and alcohol support
- Antenatal and Post-natal care
Are you a College student and would like to access Counselling without anyone knowing you have enquired but possibly need some support with filling in the form?
Then fill in the 4 questions on the link provided, click-on submit and someone will get back to you.
Mental Health and Wellbeing Charter
We have signed up to the Association of Colleges Mental Health and Wellbeing Charter. We recognise that our College has a responsibility to create an environment that promotes student and staff wellbeing and that proactively supports student and staff mental health.
Events and Promotions
We run a wide variety of events and promotional days throughout the year where we focus on a range of health related topics. These events are interactive and fun and our aim is to raise awareness of the Health and Wellbeing Centre and healthy behaviours across College. We also run numerous roadshows throughout the year where visit different campuses to hold our pop up service.
If you are having a stressful day and need somewhere quiet for a few minutes, then why not visit our Sanctuary room, located in the Health and Wellbeing Centre, Old Mill Lane Campus.
Within the Sanctuary, there are sensory aids such as a weighted neck wrap, a massage cushion, fidget toys and stress balls.
