Entry requirements

  • Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and Maths
  • Where applicants do not meet the entry requirements, the tutor may use their discretion based on a good personal reference and/or successful interview

Course overview

The Games, Animation and Visual Effects industries are amongst the largest growth areas in the UK and internationally. These industries are challenging and competitive with a wealth of job opportunities.

The NextGen AIM Qualifications Level 3 Extended Diploma in Games, Animation and VFX Skills ensures young people are industry ready and equipped with the right skills and knowledge for the workplace. The NextGen course prepares students with a strong foundation in art, design, maths, creative computing, and soft skills which are highly desirable to industry.

The design of the course has been led by award-winning employers including Sony Interactive Entertainment, Microsoft, Ubisoft, Sumo Digital, Blue Zoo, Centroid, DNEG, Framestore, MPC and The Imaginarium.

Students will develop and build on their skills with a range of inspiring masterclasses, industry set tasks and work experience, special events, and through real industry engagement from the initial research stage to their end presentation and pitch.

How much does the course cost?

16 – 18 year olds

Full-time Barnsley College students aged 16-18 years old do not have to pay tuition fees.

19+ Students

Aged 19 or over and thinking about further education?
