This course starts on 8th January. Classes are every Wednesday between 9.15am and 12.30pm for 12 weeks, term-time only.

Entry requirements

There is no requirement for you to have achieved any qualifications or units prior to undertaking this qualification. However, a reasonable standard of computing skills will be required.

You must be aged 19 or above to study this course.

Course content

You will study the following units:

Digital Skills Career Progression: Level 2 unit worth 3 credits.
Understand the significance of digital skills in the contemporary workplace and explore various job roles demanding digital expertise. Gain insights into the characteristics valued by employers, paving the way for a successful career in the digital economy.

Digital Skills Project: Level 1 unit worth 6 credits.
Develop proficiency in planning, developing, presenting, and reviewing digital projects. Engage in hands-on activities to enhance project management skills and effectively navigate digital project lifecycles.

Exploring New and Emerging Digital Technologies: Level 2 unit worth 3 credits.
Delve into the world of emerging technologies, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence. Explore the functionalities of A.I assistants like ChatGPT and understand how businesses leverage A.I to meet operational needs and drive innovation.

Using Digital Technologies: Level 2 unit worth 3 credits.
Learn how to use a range of digital technologies for different purposes. Understand how to register for digital services such as online shopping and banking and manage online accounts safely and securely. Exploring the use of online document systems to upload and download files, use email, instant messaging, and social media to communicate and collaborate with others with the assistance of A.I.

You will be assessed using a range of methods such as practical tasks and written coursework within a portfolio of evidence. This portfolio will be used to determine your grade.

You may be eligible for free or reduced course fees . Please refer to our page ‘paying for your course.’

Extra information

Part-time courses are only available for learners who are 19 years old and above. You may not have to pay for this course if you are employed but earn below £23,400 a year, or if you are unemployed and receive Job Seekers Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance or Universal Credit. You will need to provide evidence of your eligibility which will be checked at enrolment.

This course is funded by South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and/or West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA). You must be living in the South or West Yorkshire regions to qualify for funding.
