The purpose of this statement is to set out how Barnsley College will utilise the 16-19 tuition fund. The fund is allocated to colleges to mitigate the disruption to learning arising from Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The funding will be used to support a provision for all 16-19 students, including English and Maths and across A Level and vocational courses where assessments may have been deferred due to the College closure.
The 16-19 tuition fund will be used to provide small group tuition to groups of between three and five students. Eligible students have been prioritised based on results on entry as well as an assessment of individual needs including those who:
- Have not achieved a grade 4 in English and/or maths.
- Have an Education, Health and Care Plan.
- Have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), where disruption has been experienced.
- Where learning and assessment has been deferred due to lockdown.
The tuition sessions will be timetabled in addition to the planned programme of study for 2020/21. The support will be provided through both on-site and blended learning delivery.
