Entry requirements

  • Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English, Maths, and Science at grade 5 or the Level 2 Diploma in Engineering.

 

You will achieve

Year One: Foundation Diploma Level 3 in Mechanical (Mechatronics)/Electrical Engineering

Year Two: Extended Diploma Level 3 in Mechanical(Mechatronics)/Electrical Engineering

Studying on this programme will give you a broad range of knowledge and skills required for a wide range of exciting careers in engineering. The course is also suitable for individuals who are considering progression to Higher Education.

Assessment is through practical and coursework. You will be required to sit three exams.

You will require a ring binder, a calculator, textbook and general stationery.

Employment: This course can form the foundations for future study and work as Engineer and other related roles.

Education: Many students continue with higher level qualifications such as a BEng Degree or Higher National Diploma in Engineering.

How much does the course cost?

16 – 18 year olds

Full-time Barnsley College students aged 16-18 years old do not have to pay tuition fees.

19+ Students

Aged 19 or over and thinking about further education?

You may be eligible for free or reduced course fees . Please refer to our page ‘paying for your course.’
