Plastering Level 2 Full-time (including the T Level Foundation Year)

This 1-2 year study programme starts in September.

Entry requirements

Three GCSEs at grade 2 or above including English and Maths. If you do not English GCSE grade 2 you will need to have a successful  interview with an initial assessment in English and Maths at Entry Level 3 or above.

If you have four GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and Maths, you will have the chance to fast-track to year two after successful completion of a six week assessment period

 

You will achieve

  • City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Plastering

Course overview

Plastering serves a protective function, in that it makes buildings more robust. It is a skilled job and there is a high demand for good plasterers.
Plasterers mix and then paste plaster onto the interior surfaces of buildings to prepare them for decoration. They work on a range of buildings including houses and commercial buildings.

Course content

Course themes

  • Introduction to health and safety in construction
  • Preparing background surfaces and applying finishing coats
  • Producing components from moulds
  • Principles of building construction, information and communication
  • Apply plastering materials to interiors
  • Fix dry lining and plasterboards to interiors
  • Principles of organising, planning and pricing construction work
  • Running in-situ moulds

 

Throughout the study programme your work will be assessed for a Pass, Merit or Distinction grade. Achieving this diploma means that you have reached the standards expected by the industry.

Work boots, gloves and eye protection will need to be purchased prior to starting your course. Financial assistance may be available.

How much does the course cost?

16 – 18 year olds

Full-time Barnsley College students aged 16-18 years old do not have to pay tuition fees.

19+ Students

Aged 19 or over and thinking about further education?

You may be eligible for free or reduced course fees . Please refer to our page ‘paying for your course.’

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.

If you are aged 16 – 19 and don’t already have a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths they will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards higher grades in English and Maths we can help you do that too.

Need a higher level Maths qualification? We offer a Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths).

This can be added to your study programme.
