AAT Accounting Level 4 Part-time

The course will commence from September 2023. Classes run on a Tuesday 9.30am-4.30pm. The duration of the course is one year.

AAT (Level 3) Advanced Diploma in Accounting.

You will achieve

AAT (Level 4) Professional Diploma in Accounting.

Course overview

The AAT Accounting qualification gives you the relevant and practical skills to do a wide range of accounting and finance jobs.

In this qualification you will cover higher accounting tasks including drafting financial statements, managing budgets and evaluating financial performance, as well as optional specialist units including business tax, personal tax, external auditing, credit management, and cash and treasury management.

 

Course content

  • Financial Statements of Limited Companies: involves preparing limited company accounts using international standards, consolidating accounts for companies and interpreting information from financial statements
  • Management Accounting, Decision and Control: looks at costing methods, preparing costs and analysing and interpreting information
  • Management Accounting: Budgeting: involves producing budgets using various methods and interpreting and reporting the information
  • Accounting Systems and Controls: synoptic assessment

You will also study two of the following:

  • Business Tax
  • Personal Tax
  • External Auditing
  • Credit Management
  • Cash and Treasury Management

Following the successful completion of Professional Diploma in Accounting (Level 4) you will be invited to a formal graduation ceremony held in October/November. With relevant experience approved by AAT you could also use the designatory letters MAAT.

 

You will be assessed by computer based examinations, following each core unit, throughout the course and by a final synoptic assessment that will assess knowledge and understanding from across the qualification.

You will need to provide your own writing materials, books and calculator.

Following graduation from the Professional Diploma in Accounting (Level 4) you may choose to enter industry, self-employment or further study. Some universities and professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) offer exemptions to those that are AAT qualified.

How much does the course cost?

Course fees: £2,500 full fee payable. This cost includes the price of one exam sitting per module. Resit fees are an additional £75 per exam. You will need to register with AAT. A cost will be payable directly to AAT and this will give you access to study support resources for the lifetime of the qualification.
