This course starts w/c 13 January 2025. Classes are for 3 hours a week for 10 weeks, term-time only.

Entry requirements

There is no requirement for you to have achieved any qualifications or units prior to undertaking this qualification. A reasonable standard of computing skills will be required.

Course overview

If you are interested in learning more about web design then this course can take your skills to the next level. Suitable for those with some knowledge and experience, or learners who have completed the Level 1 Award in Web Design, this qualification is perfect if you want to start building more complex and detailed sites through the use of HTML and wireframe design and planning. You will need a basic level of computer literacy skills to study this course.

Course content

You will learn how to create a website using tools and techniques to add functionality, navigation buttons and hyperlinks. Utilising the skills and knowledge learnt at level 1 you will build upon more advance design techniques and website structure and user interface/experience.

You  will develop knowledge and understanding of the core areas of website design.

  • Understand website fundamentals
  • Design a website for a specific audience and purpose
  • Plan for website design in response to a brief
  • Create a website, publish and test online
  • Review and refine your website

You will be assessed using a range of methods such as practical tasks and written coursework within a portfolio of evidence. This portfolio will be used to determine your grade.

This course costs £144. This course may be FREE to study depending on your circumstances – please see the drop-down option below for more details.

Extra information

Part-time courses are only available for learners who are 19 years old and above. You may not have to pay for this course if you are employed but earn below £23,400 a year, or if you are unemployed and receive Job Seekers Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance or Universal Credit. You will need to provide evidence of your eligibility which will be checked at enrolment.

This course is funded by South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and/or West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA). You must be living in the South or West Yorkshire regions to qualify for funding.
