This course will commence in September 2023 and take two years to complete.
You will achieve a T Level in Accounting.
This qualification is ideal if you are seeking employment within the accountancy or payroll sector, working in roles such as assistant accountant, payroll junior or payroll clerk, or if you secure an accountancy-related apprenticeship or progress to further study in accountancy or payroll.
T Level courses have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so the content meets the needs of industry and prepares you for work.
They provide the knowledge and experience needed to open the door to highly skilled employment, an apprenticeship or higher-level study, including university.
T Levels are courses for 16- to 18-year-olds that are studied at the same level as doing A Levels. They are for young people who prefer a more technical education when they come to College, rather than following a purely academic pathway, or a work-based apprenticeship.
T Levels combine classroom theory, practical learning and a minimum of 45 days industry placement with an employer to make sure you have real experience of the workplace.

To achieve the T Level in Accounting, you’ll need to complete two components; a Core Component and an Occupational Specialism.
Core Component: This provides knowledge and understanding; underpinning key concepts, theories and principles relevant to the T Level and the subject sector.
The core component provides a broad understanding of the accounting industry and covers the following accounting-related topics:

Occupational specialism: This provides the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to achieve competence in Finance and Accounting. You will complete one occupational specialism, this will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to enter employment or further study in the specific occupational area.

Achieving this T Level will provide several progression options, including skilled employment in Accounting and Bookkeeping roles, an apprenticeship or Higher Education.
This course is fully-funded for 16–18 year olds.
Full-time Barnsley College students aged 16-18 years old do not have to pay tuition fees.
Barnsley College has a range of sports opportunities for all students to take part in, gain professional training and compete nationally and internationally.
