Course overview

Are you already working in the catering/hospitality industry as a chef and require a qualification? This would be the ideal qualification for you to develop your understanding of catering operations and potentially progress your career.

Course content

The Culinary Skills Level 2 Diploma will draw on the knowledge and experience you have gained from your Culinary Skills Level 2 Certificate and/or from working in the industry. You will develop your skills of preparing and cooking fruit and vegetables, meat, poultry, fish, shellfish rice and pasta. You will also learn how to produce desserts and pastry products.

The dishes you prepare and cook on the Culinary Skills Level 2 Diploma Course will be more complex than those on the certificate and will draw a variety of your skills together. You will begin to design and create your own dishes to meet certain assessment specifications.

While this course is practical, there will be end of unit tests set by City & Guilds. The theory elements will underpin the skills you learn in practical lessons and are question and assignment based.

We run a very professional department and your uniform and equipment is integral to that professionalism. You are required to purchase your own uniform and equipment, such as knives.
At college, we use a local supplier who gives a good discount to all our learners and we will provide you with a uniform and equipment list so that you can order through them yourself.
